The fastest way to get a sliding door looked at is to call. Describe what the door is doing and you will get a price range on that call, before anyone comes out.

What to Have Ready

Two minutes of preparation usually gets you a much tighter number on the first call, and often saves a separate measuring visit.

• What the door is doing. Sticking, grinding, dropping, not locking, fogged glass. The symptom points straight at the part.
• How many panels. A two-panel slider and a four-panel stacking door are very different jobs.
• Roughly how old the door is. That tells us what hardware to expect.
• Whether it is impact glass. Look for an etched stamp in a corner of the pane, or a label on the frame.
• A photo of the bottom track. If you can send one, we can usually tell you straight away whether the track itself needs work.

What Happens Next

You get a range on the call. If the fault is clear from your description, that range is usually close to the final number.

If something different turns up once the panel is out, we stop and tell you before carrying on. Nothing goes above the quoted range without you agreeing to it first.
